Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy and, similar to talking therapy, provides a confidential and non-judgemental space for you to reflect on thoughts and feelings. Creative materials are available for you to experiment with. This could be through doodling, collaging, weaving, painting – whatever appeals to you in the moment.
Sometimes talking while doing something can feel more comfortable. This process of talking and making can help us make sense of experiences, find new perspectives, and ultimately help us to feel more settled and in control. These all contribute to feelings of wellness.
No skill in art is needed - just the willingness to give it a go. Art therapy is less about aesthetics and more about the process of creating something and seeing what it makes you think about. My role is to facilitate this exploration. Click here to learn more about what an art therapy session could look like.
